xen-tan-a-guide-to-that-perfect-bronzed-glow
Maz

Hello Gorgeous Girls and Guys,

I was faced with a challenge the other day, I had a wedding to go to, the weather looked to be good and I was due to wear a strapless dress…the problem…I am as pale as a sheet most of the year, and the little ‘tan’ I get pales away the day after being in the sun! So everyone in the office nagged and nagged that I use Xen-tan but I didn’t believe them that it had an olive base and wouldn’t make me look like I’d been tango’d (a bad self-tan a few years back put me off for life.)

Xen Tan Dark Lotion

Then as if by magic a bottle of Xen-Tan Dark Lotion (236ml) £17.00 appeared on my desk and I thought I might as well try it (in a controlled test) – the test started on my legs, made it’s way up my torso, down my legs and then magically a

Xen-Tan Face Tanner Luxe

Xen-Tan Face Tanner Luxe (80ml) £15.00 came home with me and my face ended up tanned too! I am in LOVE!

So here are my top tips for a perfect, even bronzed bod!

1 – Exfoliate, this is the first and possibly the most important task.

Xen-Tan Body Scrub

Xen-Tan Body Scrub (236ml) £9.71 does the job, use your hands or a loofah to scrub away dead skin from top-to-toe.

2 – Dry off your skin thoroughly and whatever you do, don’t apply any moisturiser.

3 – Apply self-tan in circular motions, if on the legs start at the thighs and work downwards. When going over elbows, ankles, knees etc use lighter sweeping motions.

4 – Rinse hands with a bar of soap thoroughly.

5 – Dry hands and then use a cotton-wool pad to apply self-tan evenly to the back of your hands.

Et voila! Wait for your tan to develop over 4-5 hours and remember not to shower, swim or do anything that will make you perspire for at least a few hours after application. You can dress after around 15 minutes, although steer clear of white clothes.

Good Luck, you’ll be looking gorgeously bronzed in no time!

clarins-sunscreen-tried-and-tested

Hey Gorgeous Girls and Guys,

Hope you’ve had a fabulous weekend enjoying the weather. We sent some of our gorgeous product testers to trial a few of the Clarins range of Suncare products…any excuse to sun themselves in the park. Here’s what they had to say…

Claire – 23 – Full Time Nanny

I tested: Clarins Sun Care Cream High Protection (125ml) £13.64

Clarins Sun Care Cream - High Protection - Sensitive (125ml)

“My job means that I spend a lot of time outdoors, particularly in the summer. I am carting around a pushchair as well as a 2 year old so I need a sun cream that’s a high factor and is as hardworking as I am! I really liked this sun cream as it was lightly scented, so I didn’t feel like I was wafting coconut around the park, it was really quickly absorbed and didn’t leave a white stain although it was a high factor. I also liked the fact that the sun cream didn’t leave an oily residue. I could apply it and get on with things. I was already a little sunburnt when I first applied this and it managed to stop me burning further! All round a really good product!”

Emma – 24 – Audiology Administrative Assistant

I tested: Clarins Self-Tanning Milk with SPF 6 (125ml) £13.64

Clarins Self Tanning Milk with Sun Protection SPF 6 (125ml)

“I love to be out in the sun and I love to have a tan. So ideally I want a sun cream that protects, because I suppose it’s the right thing to do, but doesn’t get in the way of a lovely gorgeous glow. I tried the Clarins Self-Tanning Milk with SPF 6 at a BBQ where I was out all day. I would say if you have sensitive skin to use this alongside a higher SPF, but for me it was fine, I developed a nice glow thanks to the self-tanning ingredients as well as a natural tan underneath that. The milk-lotion formulation is quickly absorbed and helps to ensure a streak-free light colour. Definitely a product to take on holiday!”

Eva – 28 – Head of Customer Service Operations

I tested: Clarins Sun Care Spray Oil-Free Lotion – Moderate Protection (150ml) £14.09

Clarins Sun Care Spray Oil-Free Lotion - Moderate (150ml)

“This spray was so easy to use, and it was almost instantly absorbed into my skin. I was a little apprehensive as to the credibility of it’s Oil-Free nature – the product looked pretty oily in the bottle – but actually my skin didn’t feel oily at all when I applied it…to the point where I thought I hadn’t put any on. I have naturally olive skin so I think this was a pretty good product for me, it allowed me to still catch the sun but not burn. All importantly it didn’t have an overbearing scent, just a subtle one like most Clarins products. I’d recommend it for busy mums on the go and anyone who just wants to spray and go!”

So that’s what they had to say, remember if you have a product from us and want to let us know your opinions you can always do so on our website underneath the product description on the ‘Write a review’ button! We always love to hear your feedback.

Hey Gorgeous girls and guys,

Ok so I was down at the Gorgeous Salon the other day, having my highlights done by the lovely Sharon, and she was giving me a shampoo and conditioning 1-on-1 tutorial! Did you know that all those products for ‘Aged’, ‘Old’ and ‘Mature’ hair aren’t for the aged, old and mature people. In fact they are designed for hair that is old. So just because you may be 100 years old, the hair on your head still grows, and seeing as most 100 year olds have short hair their hair is classed as new. It’s us youngsters with our long hair that actually need to use the products for mature hair.
I suppose it’s obvious when you think about it…I started growing my hair about 5 years ago so my split ends are basically hair that’s been dyed, styled, pulled and coiffed for all that time (no wonder I need an intensively moisturising product).

Kerastase Bain Recharge

So leap into action with these fabulous products and rescue your hair. For me, after a few washes with Kerastase Resistance Age Recharge Shampoo and Masque my hair looked so much healthier.

Top 5 Strengthening and Protecting Haircare Products:
1. Kerastase Age Recharge Bain (250ml) £10.96
2. Korres Rice Proteins Serum (15ml) £13.71
3. Joico K-Pak Reconstructing Treatment (150ml) £14.95
4. Redken Extreme Triple Pack (Shampoo, Conditioner & Anti-Snap Treatment) £29.00
5. L’Oreal Professionnel Age Densiforce Shampoo (250ml) £7.86

Oh little uno-brow how you make me sad,

Little uno-brow you shouldn’t be there,

People think me bad because little uno-brow you have so much hair!

Anon

Ok so maybe I’m not quite in the same boat as the ‘Uno-Brow’ lot, but I can tell you I inherited bushy eyebrows from my grandmother, and I face a constant struggle to keep them looking neat and tidy. But one little tool that keeps my brows gorgeous is the Tweezerman Slant! It’s almost fool-proof.

Simply line the slanted edge up with the hair you want to pluck, squeeze and pull…et voila! And a little secret between you and me….the Tweezerman Slant is also great at ‘helping’ you in-between those bikini waxes too!

With a huge range of great colours and sizes (check out the Slant Mini’s) you’re spoilt for choice. Also whilst your browsing, make sure you stock up on the hugely popular Tweezerman After Tweeze Soothing Lotion (Our price £7.20), it works wonders on reducing redness and irritation after tweezing.

Next time – Gorgeous sunless tanning; how to not look like an Oompa Lumpa.
