Get Fit: Zumba

Some people are addicted to exercise. The endorphins released when they partake in an activity create a chemical reaction that fills them with a general sense of well-being and goodness. I am not this person. I never have been, and the only things I do that count as being fit is the walk to and from work and the occasional game of badminton in the park, which doesn’t really count as I don’t know how to play and I like to make up my own rules.

So why on earth have I been attending Zumba classes for the last 5 weeks?! Have I become that person?

Zumba originated in the 1990′s and is basically Latin-dance mixed with aerobics, and then with a whole load of salsa, samba, mambo, hip-hop and belly-dance thrown in just for good measure! I like to think of it as exercise for cheats, because although I am red in the face with swear pouring down me throughout; I actually enjoy myself!

I’ve seen Zumba classes popping up everywhere and it can cost as little as £3 for an hour around London and the Home Counties.

Hi Jess, too right about Zumba, I love it too.
By the sound of it I’m a little more into exercise than you but Zumba is just cool anyway. Rythm and dance I love it.
