Coleen…

What goes through the mind of a WAG?

We couldn’t really go any further without offering a comment on the Coleen/Wayne debarcle…it’s all over the front pages, in the news and of course on all the topical chat shows. The thing that we, Coleen…and probably the rest of the world want to know, is WHY?

Is it just us or does it seem as though these sports players who have had alleged affairs seem to behave as though they feel that it is their right, or entitlement to do so? This said many who come out in support of the sportsmen claim that the WAGS are half the problem in themselves. The media create these celebrity women whose every move, hairstyle and outfit are dissected to the minutest detail, this in turn can lead the WAGS to become equally obsessed, and perhaps some would argue, monster versions of their previous selves. Without a shadow of a doubt the likes of Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole and Coleen Rooney have benefited off-pitch from their husbands careers on the pitch, but does that really entitle the men to do what they like…are the rules of marriage altered somehow when you’re married to a sportsman?

A quick opionion-check around the office comes out with the following: “I mean seriously with the reputation they [footballers] have would you ever marry one?”, “I don’t understand why footballers and the like get married anyway, if you want to behave like that…fine…but why have a wife you never see anyway?”

As things develop over the coming weeks and we find out whether or not the Rooney marriage will survive, and no doubt allegiances chop and change…who scores goals for the country? vs the poor girl next door; perhaps someone…somewhere will take note, and see, that whilst surely there are plenty of successful happily married sportsmen…a trend does seem to be developing.
