Inlight Organic are an all-British, all-organic skincare brand whose products are steeped in over 30 years of scientific knowledge, careful research and naturally active ingredients. Their products are developed and manufactured in the Cornish countryside, and range from cleansers and toners to line softeners and lip salves.
The difference between Inlight and thousands of other cosmetic brands is that they don’t use synthetic materials, which contain potentially toxic compounds that can trap themselves deep in the skin’s tissue for years: Inlight’s skin and body products allow your body and face to enjoy a diet of pure and concentrated natural nourishment, all of which is powerfully beneficial.
I was kindly sent the Inlight Organic Firm and Tone Oil to review and see what the fuss was about. Inlight call it a “powerful combination of oils and herbs…selected to tone tired skin anywhere on the body and to help in treating cellulite and water retention”. I very much liked the sound of it: I’m prone to achy muscles in my back and legs, and I also often retain a fair amount of water weight (lucky me)!
The oil itself is packed with more natural ingredients than I’d ever seen in an organic product. Inlight says:
The selection of oils, rich in Vitamins E & F and high in essential fatty acids, has been designed to combine the nourishing and anti-oxidant properties of sesame, olive and evening primrose oils, with the astringent action of hazelnut oil, the soothing quality of apricot kernel oil, and jojoba oil to promote elasticity.
To the mixture are then added ginger and rosemary to stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage and also to enhance the natural purifying and eliminatory capacity of the skin. Gotu kola has been selected for its revitalising and elastifying properties, cypress, lemon and green tea as astringents and anti-oxidants, burdock for its draining properties, and meadowsweet and lavender for their anti-inflammatory action.
The characteristics of its ingredients make this product ideal for treating cellulite and other problems such as water retention, lymphoedema and heavy feeling legs. The result is a more healthy, toned and elastic looking skin. The product is designed for all skin types, even the most sensitive.
Over the next couple of weeks, I poured a few drops of the Firm and Tone Oil into a hot bath, and relaxed for 20 minutes. The smell is very clean and fresh: the most discernible smell for me was the evening primrose. The oil itself is silky as opposed to greasy and mixed nicely into hot baths. After about four baths, my skin had noticeably changed: it felt baby soft and had a nice radiance to it, and I felt like it really had a soothing effect, de-stressing both mind and body and leaving me perfectly relaxed and ready for bed.
After my lovely relaxing baths, I enlisted the help of whichever poor soul I could to massage this into my upper back, where I get the worst muscle ache. Used in firm but gentle circular motions, and with increasing pressure, this eased the nagging aches I felt in my muscles. My skin has felt much suppler ever since. I’m continuing to use this around my stomach to prevent water retention, and so far, so good.
I’ve used a variety of oils available that are designed to combat aches and pains and reduce stretch marks and bloating, but this has become my go-to choice. It’s a feel-good product: you know that what you are putting on to your skin is completely natural and won’t leave any nasty synthetics or chemicals that will clog up the skin. It’s not a miracle-worker, but it has certainly helped a great deal with my back pains, made my skin a lot more radiant and my baths more enjoyable! I’m yet to be 100% convinced of its firming properties, but I’ve seen some promising signs of change so far, particularly around my thighs which are feeling much smoother. All in all, it’s a firm thumbs up from me!
