Hey Gorgeous Girls and Guys,

I’ve been all about the hair products lately, but I couldn’t resist trying out the new foundation range from Clarins; Clarins Everlasting Foundation with SPF 15, when a sample landed on my desk last week. Where better to test it out than on a day when I have to rush straight from work to a friend’s birthday with no opportunity to touch-up my make-up.

Clarins Everlasting Founcation - Ivory

Clarins claim that this foundation will give you 15 hours of absolute perfection with a 100% natural mineral shield SPF15 to boot as well – did it last that long? Mostly! The easy to blend, lighter-than-you-think formula, feels like silk on your skin with a light matte finish. This foundation is not so thick that you look like you’ve caked it on, but certainly not as fine as a tinted moisturiser. It comfortably sits on the skin and is relatively non-transferable.

My foundation looked fresh throughout the working day and most of the way into the evening, I did touch it up a little to cover up blemishes, dark circles and around my mouth (messy eater) during the evening but overall I was really impressed.

When I took it off my skin still felt healthy thanks to the super-hydrating plant-based micro-patch that seals in moisture, reducing dehydration. My one criticism would be the scent, it smells of fresh melon which is personally not to my taste, thankfully the scent doesn’t linger so it’s not a big issue but more of a niggle.

The Clarins Everlasting Foundation with SPF15 has 10 different shades in the range so that you can find your ideal match.

My gorgeous rating: 4 out of 5 – It’s just the scent that lets it down, but compared to other brands that can smell chemically, the fresh scent may be a welcome change from that.

As always stay gorgeous,

Hey Gorgeous Girls and Guys,
When I was getting ready for my New Year’s party the other day I noticed that my skin was really suffering from the combination of central heating versus cold icy winter air – you know how foundation is meant to smooth and even your skintone…well mine looked like a flaky snowstorm! – and I thought that perhaps it was time to treat it! Most skin types can look dry and dull, particularly in areas such as your forehead and cheeks, at this time of year, and depending on your skin type you should treat this ailment differently…

Clarins HydraQuench Rich Cream

Dry Skin
Skin that is dry throughout the year may be a little sore as well as dry, so you will really benefit from a gentle, soothing product that also rehydrates dry skin. Clarins HydraQuench Rich Cream (50ml) £27.20 is both rich and soothing to counteract skin irritation and tightness; your skin will feel loosened and hydrated after use. For extremely dry skin use twice a day, morning and night.

Inlight Organic Night Balm

Alternatively you may prefer a more naturally based product, Inlight Organic Night Balm (60ml) £34.00 currently with Free UK P&P, is 100% certified organic by the Soil Association. Designed with mature and dry skin in mind, the intensively hydrating properties of shea butter and jojoba oil provide the skin with intense nourishment and moisturising, whilst macadamia, carrot and evening primrose oils regenerate the skin. The active ingredient of lavender soothes, calms and restores the skin, providing an ideal habitat for cell regeneration.

MD Formulations Critical Care Shielding Creme
md formulations critical care shielding creme

Normal Skin
Even skin that appears balanced most of the year can suffer through the winter. Your nose cheeks and chin can feel normal but when it comes to applying foundation or powder to your face you notice dry flakes of skin, particularly around the chin contour and forehead. A simple test is to run a dry index finger over these areas, your finger should feel smooth and soft skin underneath, areas that feel a little sandpapery or rough need to be attended to and most importantly protected. PureLogicol Super Antioxidant Moisturiser (75ml) £31.50 and MD Formulations Critical Care Shielding Creme (30ml) £57.00 both take into consideration the outward superficial needs of your skin but also inwardly hydrate and nourish from within.

Korres Yoghurt Cream

Oily/Combination Skin
Oily and Combination skin types require a balancing act to ensure that you don’t over dry or over hydrate the skin. However, a little known fact about oily skin is that it can be oily but dehydrated at the same time, this can lead to a leathery texture with a sheen. If this sounds a little like your skin type then try Korres Yoghurt Cream for Oily and Dehydrated Skin (40ml) £17.62. It helps to balance the sebum producing levels in your skin whilst feeding the skin with vital nutrients which tackle soreness and irritation.

La Biosthetique Methode Clarifiante Purete

For something a little more luxurious why not try La Biosthetique Methode Clarifiante Purete (50ml) £22.10 currently with Free UK P&P. This moisturiser is light enough not to weigh down your skin but nourishing enough to help balance your skin. Natural plant extracts work to normalise disturbed sebum production, whilst inflammation is reduced thanks to the antibacterial action of lemon oil, lavender oil and liquorice root extract.

Hey Gorgeous Girls and Guys,
I was reading the September edition of ‘She’ magazine when I spotted a Q&A section interviewing Joanna Lumley, I’m sure you’ll agree that she’s one lady who looks a good twenty years younger than she actually is! So it came as a surprise that if she could change any part of her appearance it would be her neck; ‘It’s always had two deep lines across it. At 22 I had my first acting job and someone said “Her neck’s awful – my gran’s got a nicer neck than her.” What’s so silly is that I imagine that if my neck were perfect, my whole life would be perfect…’

So if Joanna Lumley worries about her neck then there’s still hope for the rest of us who stress over those niggly bits of our bodies no matter what our age.

On the theme of necks, here are a couple of quick solutions that should help you out if your neck is a problem area.

Clarins Super Restorative Décolleté and Neck Concentrate

Clarins Super Restorative Décolleté and Neck Concentrate (50ml) £42.50 including free UK P&P. This fabulous concentrate is a popular Clarins product specifically targeted to restore health, smoothness and firmness to your décolleté and neck area. There are plenty of serums out there that are oily and sit on the skin, Clarins Super Restorative Décolleté and Neck Concentrate isn’t one of them, it’s almost instantly absorbed for a smooth finish.

La Biosthetique Anti-Age Menulphia Crème Regenerante

La Biosthetique Anti-Age Menulphia Crème Regenerante (50ml) £37.50 including free UK P&P. We are really proud to welcome this new brand to our website, and this anti-aging range of products really help to smooth the skin from forehead to neck. If you are looking for an entire range dedicated to fighting the signs of premature ageing and wrinkles, this range is for you, plus it is suitable for all skin-types who are concerned about the rate that their skin is ageing at.

PureLogicol Collagen Face Mask (12 Applications)

PureLogicol Collagen Face Mask (12 Applications) £40.49. Another gorgeousshop favourite, this fab mask instantly provides tightened skin from the very first treatment. Containing anti-oxidants, aloe vera, papaya and silk protein mixed with a separate collagen powder, this mask has a potent, refreshing effect every time, unlike most pre-prepared masks which lose their potency due to oxidation.

Hey Gorgeous Girls and Guys,

Hope you’ve had a fabulous weekend enjoying the weather. We sent some of our gorgeous product testers to trial a few of the Clarins range of Suncare products…any excuse to sun themselves in the park. Here’s what they had to say…

Claire – 23 – Full Time Nanny

I tested: Clarins Sun Care Cream High Protection (125ml) £13.64

Clarins Sun Care Cream - High Protection - Sensitive (125ml)

“My job means that I spend a lot of time outdoors, particularly in the summer. I am carting around a pushchair as well as a 2 year old so I need a sun cream that’s a high factor and is as hardworking as I am! I really liked this sun cream as it was lightly scented, so I didn’t feel like I was wafting coconut around the park, it was really quickly absorbed and didn’t leave a white stain although it was a high factor. I also liked the fact that the sun cream didn’t leave an oily residue. I could apply it and get on with things. I was already a little sunburnt when I first applied this and it managed to stop me burning further! All round a really good product!”

Emma – 24 – Audiology Administrative Assistant

I tested: Clarins Self-Tanning Milk with SPF 6 (125ml) £13.64

Clarins Self Tanning Milk with Sun Protection SPF 6 (125ml)

“I love to be out in the sun and I love to have a tan. So ideally I want a sun cream that protects, because I suppose it’s the right thing to do, but doesn’t get in the way of a lovely gorgeous glow. I tried the Clarins Self-Tanning Milk with SPF 6 at a BBQ where I was out all day. I would say if you have sensitive skin to use this alongside a higher SPF, but for me it was fine, I developed a nice glow thanks to the self-tanning ingredients as well as a natural tan underneath that. The milk-lotion formulation is quickly absorbed and helps to ensure a streak-free light colour. Definitely a product to take on holiday!”

Eva – 28 – Head of Customer Service Operations

I tested: Clarins Sun Care Spray Oil-Free Lotion – Moderate Protection (150ml) £14.09

Clarins Sun Care Spray Oil-Free Lotion - Moderate (150ml)

“This spray was so easy to use, and it was almost instantly absorbed into my skin. I was a little apprehensive as to the credibility of it’s Oil-Free nature – the product looked pretty oily in the bottle – but actually my skin didn’t feel oily at all when I applied it…to the point where I thought I hadn’t put any on. I have naturally olive skin so I think this was a pretty good product for me, it allowed me to still catch the sun but not burn. All importantly it didn’t have an overbearing scent, just a subtle one like most Clarins products. I’d recommend it for busy mums on the go and anyone who just wants to spray and go!”

So that’s what they had to say, remember if you have a product from us and want to let us know your opinions you can always do so on our website underneath the product description on the ‘Write a review’ button! We always love to hear your feedback.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

I just thought I’d let you know a little about Clarins Beauty Flash Balm (50ml) £22.01 which I tried for the first time lately. Over the cold spell lately my skin really suffered and when the weather started to change I could feel my skin finding it hard to keep up with all the sudden changes in temperature and weather.

My skin was dry, dull and in need of a real lift – and unfortunately my usual moisturiser just wasn’t doing the trick…but I really must give credit where it’s due. After one application of Clarins Beauty Flash Balm my skin was moisturised and looking refreshed, after the second and third applications my skin looked brighter and tighter – particularly around the ever frustrating eye contour area which had all but turned into a desert.

The scent of Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is quite addictive, it’s a cross between a clean, light fragrance combined with the subtle sweet aroma of baby talcum powder. Your skin is left instantly revived and refreshed. Give it a go now and receive a Free Clarins Mini Treat with every order!

Stay gorgeous,

Maz Lopez
