winter-skincare

Hey Gorgeous Girls and Guys,
When I was getting ready for my New Year’s party the other day I noticed that my skin was really suffering from the combination of central heating versus cold icy winter air – you know how foundation is meant to smooth and even your skintone…well mine looked like a flaky snowstorm! – and I thought that perhaps it was time to treat it! Most skin types can look dry and dull, particularly in areas such as your forehead and cheeks, at this time of year, and depending on your skin type you should treat this ailment differently…

Clarins HydraQuench Rich Cream

Dry Skin
Skin that is dry throughout the year may be a little sore as well as dry, so you will really benefit from a gentle, soothing product that also rehydrates dry skin. Clarins HydraQuench Rich Cream (50ml) £27.20 is both rich and soothing to counteract skin irritation and tightness; your skin will feel loosened and hydrated after use. For extremely dry skin use twice a day, morning and night.

Inlight Organic Night Balm

Alternatively you may prefer a more naturally based product, Inlight Organic Night Balm (60ml) £34.00 currently with Free UK P&P, is 100% certified organic by the Soil Association. Designed with mature and dry skin in mind, the intensively hydrating properties of shea butter and jojoba oil provide the skin with intense nourishment and moisturising, whilst macadamia, carrot and evening primrose oils regenerate the skin. The active ingredient of lavender soothes, calms and restores the skin, providing an ideal habitat for cell regeneration.

MD Formulations Critical Care Shielding Creme

Normal Skin
Even skin that appears balanced most of the year can suffer through the winter. Your nose cheeks and chin can feel normal but when it comes to applying foundation or powder to your face you notice dry flakes of skin, particularly around the chin contour and forehead. A simple test is to run a dry index finger over these areas, your finger should feel smooth and soft skin underneath, areas that feel a little sandpapery or rough need to be attended to and most importantly protected. PureLogicol Super Antioxidant Moisturiser (75ml) £31.50 and MD Formulations Critical Care Shielding Creme (30ml) £57.00 both take into consideration the outward superficial needs of your skin but also inwardly hydrate and nourish from within.

Korres Yoghurt Cream

Oily/Combination Skin
Oily and Combination skin types require a balancing act to ensure that you don’t over dry or over hydrate the skin. However, a little known fact about oily skin is that it can be oily but dehydrated at the same time, this can lead to a leathery texture with a sheen. If this sounds a little like your skin type then try Korres Yoghurt Cream for Oily and Dehydrated Skin (40ml) £17.62. It helps to balance the sebum producing levels in your skin whilst feeding the skin with vital nutrients which tackle soreness and irritation.

La Biosthetique Methode Clarifiante Purete

For something a little more luxurious why not try La Biosthetique Methode Clarifiante Purete (50ml) £22.10 currently with Free UK P&P. This moisturiser is light enough not to weigh down your skin but nourishing enough to help balance your skin. Natural plant extracts work to normalise disturbed sebum production, whilst inflammation is reduced thanks to the antibacterial action of lemon oil, lavender oil and liquorice root extract.

inlight-cleanser-and-toner-review
Maz

Hey Gorgeous Girls and Guys,
For the last two weeks I have been detoxing my skin and trialling Inlight’s Organic Face Cleanser and Organic Floral Face Tonic. Why? Well you can’t get far without hearing about how Parabens, Sulphates and Alcohols are causing havoc with long-term skin health, and as someone who likes to take care of their skin, all this hype can be a bit worrying.

So, I set out to find a more natural and harmonious solution for my skin and that was when Inlight was recommended to me by several people in the gorgeous spa and offices, so after a bit of quick research and some glowing praises from past testers:

“I have noticed an improvement in my skin since using both the cleanser and the face tonic, the dry patches on my face which I had been prone to as the seasons and weather change have definitely diminished…” AW, May 2009

“My skin was wonderfully soft and smooth and radiant. I really understood the concept of beautifood for the skin. My skin had been crying out for nourishment and it had been well and truly fed!!!” A McS, June 09

So the concepts of Inlight are; Beautifood, Cosmethics and Cosmedics, but what do they mean? In short, all the products are designed to feed the skin and add to its natural balance rather than taking away vital oils and goodness that some harsher chemical cleansers and toners can. All the products are Homeopathic, and many are Vegan and Vegetarian friendly too. None of the ingredients are or ever have been tested on animals, and to top it all off even those with particularly sensitive skin should be able to use the range without difficulty.

All the information seems to point in the right direction, but did it actually make a difference? Well, actually YES!

Inlight Organic Face Cleanser

For the first week I cleansed every evening with the Inlight Organic Face Cleanser and removed it with a 100% pure cotton pad soaked in Inlight Organic Floral Face Tonic, and in the second week I tried just removing the cleanser with water.

I was a little sceptical at first about using the cleanser, particularly as the Inlight Organic Face Cleanser is infused with Coconut Oil and Shea Butter, and my skin is combination – dry forehead but oily nose and chin prone to blemishes. So the thought of putting oil-based ingredients on the oily areas seemed like the last thing that I wanted to do. But, I was assured by the lovely people at Inlight to put my trust in the product and give it a go. After the first week I had got used to the consistency of the cleanser and was pleasantly surprised about how clean my skin felt after use, it was really good at removing make-up residue, even my rock-solid waterproof mascara!! By the second week my skin seemed to be more balanced, the dryness of my forehead was greatly reduced and my nose and chin appeared more balanced, although my chin did have an initial hissy fit and a few spots burst through as a reaction to the change in my normal routine. These soon cleared up though.

Inlight Organic Floral Face Tonic

I must admit that I did like the Inlight Organic Floral Face Tonic from the start, it effortlessly removed the cleanser from my face, and the Lavender, Rose and Cornflower floral waters have a refreshing scent. Inlight are keen to point out that the Inlight Organic Floral Face Tonic contains 100% certified organic agricultural ingredients, but due to the nature of organic classification the floral waters themselves cannot be classified as organic – not that you would even notice as you’ll want to practically bathe in this tonic.

So after my two-week trial I would say that I personally preferred the result when using the toner as my skin felt fresher and there was less residue, however, in the drier areas like my forehead it was better for my skin to wash it off with water.
My skin feels plumper and more balanced, and I am keen to keep using the duo to see the longer term benefits to my skin. As someone with particularly difficult skin, I would say that these little products rose to the challenge and with tons of cleanser and toner left in the gorgeous deep blue containers they are fantastic value for money too.

la-biosthetique-natural-haircare-review
Maz

Hey Gorgeous Girls and Guys,

EEK! My hair is looking a little dried out at the moment, lots of bleaching combined with sun exposure has left it looking like straw…and I’ve decided it’s time to take action to repair and replenish my hair so that it regains its shine and health. After all I love having my hair long and blonde so going for the chop is certainly not an option.

gorgeousshop has just launched La Biosthetique hair and skincare products and I’ve already had a nose in the warehouse to find a product to match my needs, and I found a couple that I’ve been trying out that are really working to nurse my hair back to health.

La Biosthetique Bain Vital (250ml) – Shampoo for Damaged Hair

First of all I started with the refreshingly scented La Biosthetique Bain Vital (250ml) – Shampoo for Damaged Hair. This product is so highly concentrated that you need the smallest amount to lather and cleanse your hair. Plus for all those girls out there who like to know what they’re putting on their hair (don’t you just hate all those chemically products) you can be rest assured that 99% of the ingredients in the Bain Vital shampoo are from a natural origin and 6% are from organic farming.

La Biosthetique Masque Vital (100ml) – Conditioning Masque for Damaged Hair

I then followed the shampoo with La Biosthetique Masque Vital (100ml) – Conditioning Masque for Damaged Hair. You can use it as a regular conditioner, or alternatively it’s thick texture allows you to leave it in for longer for better results. I left it in for the best part of 20 minutes whilst I soaked in the bath and read a magazine. 99% of the ingredients in La Biosthetique Masque Vital are from a natural origin and 15% are from organic farming.

La Biosthetique Creme Brilliante (50ml)

To finish I used a little La Biosthetique Creme Brilliante (50ml), this product again smells delicious and glides onto your hair just like a creamy serum. 99% of the ingredients are from a natural origin and 34% are from organic farming.

With Free Postage and Packaging across the range give this brilliant collection the opportunity to show off it’s fantastic qualities.

Stay Gorgeous,
